Rafael Fiziev is set to face rising lightweight contender Ignacio Bahamondes in a significant bout announced as the co-main event for UFC Baku. Scheduled for June 21, this fight marks a potential homecoming for Fiziev, who grew up in Azerbaijan.
This event will be the first time the Ultimate Fighting Championship holds a show in Azerbaijan. The fight card will be headlined by a light heavyweight clash between former UFC champion Jamahal Hill and one-time title challenger Khalil Rountree Jr.
Fiziev, holding a professional record of 12-4, will look to snap a three-fight losing streak. Despite previously enjoying a six-fight winning run in the UFC, which included impressive knockout victories over Rafael dos Anjos and Renato Moicano, he has recently suffered defeats to Justin Gaethje (twice) and Mateusz Gamrot.
On the other side, Chile`s Ignacio Bahamondes (17-5) enters what could be the biggest fight of his career so far. He is currently on a strong run, having improved his Octagon record to 6-2 with three consecutive bonus-winning performances since April 2024. His recent victories came against Christos Giagos, Manuel Torres, and Jalin Turner.
