Ramiz Brahimaj secured a decisive and visually striking victory at UFC Vegas 107. He applied a brutal standing guillotine choke that ultimately rendered his opponent, Billy Ray Goff, unconscious.
This win marks Brahimaj`s second consecutive impressive outing, following his knockout of Mickey Gall in his previous fight. He continued this momentum by taking out Goff in spectacular fashion on Saturday night.
The end of the fight came after Goff attempted to initiate grappling exchanges. Brahimaj was quick to capitalize, initially grabbing a “ninja choke” which immediately caused problems for Goff. Brahimaj then expertly transitioned to the standing guillotine. Despite Goff`s best efforts to escape the hold, he was unable to break free and lost consciousness before falling to the canvas.
The official stopage time was three minutes and sixteen seconds into the first round.
Speaking with UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier in the octagon after the bout, Brahimaj commented, “I heard you backstage when you said you think you’re Mike Tyson, you think you’re the Bronx bomber … this fight I was the Bronx boa. I feel like I’m home.”
He also reflected on his journey, stating, “I battled through a lot, mental barriers, injuries, changes, I was going to hang these gloves up two years ago … some words resonate with you and I’m here. I’m just in the moment. I’m grateful.”
This submission marks the third guillotine choke victory in Brahimaj`s professional career, though it is his first secured under the UFC banner.
The win improves Brahimaj`s recent record to 3-1 in his last four appearances. He also took a moment to thank UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby for his continued faith and support, even after past setbacks, which kept him on the promotion`s roster.
That faith has certainly paid off. With two back-to-back impressive finishes, Brahimaj is clearly demonstrating that he is a formidable threat to anyone competing in the welterweight division.
