Richard Gasquet Opens Up on His Biggest Career Regret: Failing to Win a Grand Slam Title

Former world No. 7 Richard Gasquet has revealed the biggest regret of his extensive career. The veteran French player is set to retire after this year`s Roland Garros.

“Of course, I never won a Grand Slam tournament,” Gasquet stated. “But I quickly realized how difficult that would be, seeing the strength of that generation of players [referring to the `Big Three` era]. I reached the semi-finals three times and genuinely believed I could win, but I was defeated on each occasion. I also reached world No. 7 in the rankings, even though I aimed for the Top 5. But that`s okay.”

Reflecting on his career, he added, “Most of all, I enjoyed beating those top players, even if it didn`t happen every time,” Gasquet told Eurosport France.
