Former world number one tennis player Roger Federer has congratulated Alexander Ovechkin, the captain of the Washington Capitals hockey club, on achieving a new NHL record.
On April 6th, Ovechkin marked his place in history by setting a new record for the most goals scored in NHL regular season championships.
In a regular season match against the New York Islanders, the forward netted his 894th career goal, surpassing the legendary Wayne Gretzky`s previous record.
In a video message, Federer expressed his admiration, saying, “I am very happy for you. I hope you will hold this record forever.”
