Loïs Boisson, the French player who was one of the standout performers at Roland Garros 2025 by reaching the semifinals, incorporated biathlon training into her regimen last year. In March 2024, she trained in Grand-Bornand under the guidance of her physical trainer, Sébastien Durand.
Durand elaborated on the benefits of this unusual cross-training for a tennis player. “Biathlon is a comprehensive sport that helps develop muscle tone for force transfer. The cardiovascular aspect is also interesting, particularly the ability of biathletes to quickly reduce their heart rate to regain precision,” Durand shared via social media.
He also noted the relevance of biathlon`s movements to tennis. “This sport allows for practicing sliding, and it`s easy to see the analogy to playing tennis on a clay court,” he added.
The 22-year-old Boisson, who was ranked World No. 361 during her impressive run, reached the Roland Garros 2025 semifinals before ultimately being defeated by American Coco Gauff.
