Andrey Rublev, the 2020 Olympic mixed doubles champion and current world No. 17, shared his feelings after participating in a kayaking session on Lake Alster in Hamburg.
As part of a promotional event leading up to the ATP 500 clay court tournament in Hamburg, Rublev joined Canadian player Felix Auger-Aliassime on the water, paddling alongside professional kayakers.
Reflecting on the experience, Rublev was quoted by the ATP press service as saying: “It was quite scary. I`ve never had to concentrate so much on balancing and rowing at the same time in my life. It was enjoyable, though, because you `row` in the gym, but this was completely different.”
Separately, in his first-round match at the Hamburg tournament, the Russian player secured a victory against Damir Dzumhur (ranked world No. 69) with a score of 6/4, 6/3.
