The world`s top-ranked player, Aryna Sabalenka, and fourth-ranked Jessica Pegula are set to clash for the third time in a year in the final of a major North American tennis tournament.
Both athletes have successfully reached the final match in Miami. Notably, they have previously competed for titles in Cincinnati and at the US Open in 2023, with Sabalenka winning on both occasions.
Interestingly, at least one of these two players has consistently reached the final of every significant North American tournament since Miami 2023, where Danielle Collins defeated Elena Rybakina. Last season in Toronto, Pegula emerged victorious against Amanda Anisimova, while earlier this year in Indian Wells, Sabalenka was defeated by Mirra Andreeva.
Jessica Pegula, reflecting on the upcoming final against Sabalenka, commented, “If I can bring my best tennis to the court, I believe I`ll have opportunities. I`m determined to apply the lessons learned from our previous matches.”
