Carlos Alcaraz, the four-time Grand Slam champion, world No. 3, and 22-year-old Spanish tennis player, commented on his rivalry with world No. 1 Italian Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz stated, “`Sinner is the best player in the world, even though he was out for three months. He plays well in every tournament. He wins almost every match. I become even more focused when I face him. If you don`t show your best level, it`s impossible to beat him. He has an aura. I won`t say I feel the same way as Rafa and Roger did when they played each other, but I feel a different energy when I meet Jannik.”
He added, “Right now, all the attention is on Paris. Everyone is focused on Roland Garros. Beating Jannik, winning in Rome… these factors provide great confidence. I always say that a final isn`t just playing for the title, but winning it. I am very happy. I`m going to enjoy this moment with my family, team, and friends who came from home. I`ll take a few days off to process what I`ve achieved. That`s important too. Then I will focus on Roland Garros,” Alcaraz said at a press conference.
Carlos also spoke about his emotional state during the current part of the season.
“Honestly, I feel completely different now,” Carlos shared. “I approach matches differently, which I`m very proud of. I`ve found the right path again. Before, I used to get very nervous during matches and couldn`t control my emotions like I do now. I was focused on results, on the fact that I had to win. Now I approach things completely differently. I am happy and proud of how I`m living.”
