Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant, now known for Power Slap, and social media influencer Bryce Hall, who has ventured into bare-knuckle boxing, are making their debut in a horror film.
The movie, titled Skillhouse, is a production by Ryan Kavanaugh’s GenTV and is scheduled for nationwide release on July 11 through Fathom Entertainment. This news was initially reported by Deadline.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is the main star of the film, which is directed by Josh Stolberg, known for his work on horror films like Saw X, Jigsaw, and Piranha 3D.
Skillhouse is described as a thrilling social media horror story where ten influencers are lured into a dangerous content house. They are then forced to participate in deadly social media challenges where their online fame is not just influence, but their only means of survival.
Kavanaugh, a producer with a history of successful films including The Social Network, The Fighter, and Mamma Mia!, is also known in the fight world as the former owner of Triller, the parent company of BKFC.
According to Kavanaugh, Skillhouse is a groundbreaking film project, exciting and engaging for social media users and horror enthusiasts alike.
He added that Skillhouse is timely and innovative, utilizing the power of influencers within its narrative. GenTV is excited to partner with Fathom for a special theatrical release of this movie.
This film marks VanZant`s first significant role in a movie after her career in the UFC and subsequent move to BKFC. More recently, she has gained attention in the Power Slap league.
Hall plays a leading character in the movie, with parts of it filmed at Sway House, a location where many prominent social media influencers, including Hall, initially gained popularity.
Skillhouse is set to premiere in theaters on the same day as the highly anticipated Superman film by James Gunn.
