Sodiq Yusuff is scheduled to step back into the octagon, marking his first fight in more than a year.
Individuals knowledgeable about the promotion`s plans have confirmed that Yusuff is slated to compete against Mairon Santos at the UFC Vegas 106 event. This card is scheduled to take place on May 17th at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas.
The fight will be contested in the lightweight division. This weight class was chosen due to the booking being made on short notice, although Yusuff has previously indicated online that he might consider a permanent move to lightweight.
Yusuff last competed at UFC 300 approximately a year ago, where he suffered a first-round defeat at the hands of Diego Lopes, who has since challenged for the featherweight title. Yusuff, nicknamed “Super,” is currently on a two-fight losing streak, which includes a decision loss to Edson Barboza in the main event of UFC Vegas 81 in October 2023.
Mairon Santos will be moving up a weight class for this bout, having won his first two appearances inside the octagon. The champion of the 32nd season of The Ultimate Fighter recently secured a split decision victory over Francis Marshall at UFC 313 in March.
The UFC Vegas 106 event is expected to be headlined by a welterweight encounter between Gilbert Burns and Michael Morales.
