Tracy Cortez Explains Support for Mexican Community After UFC Win

Following her recent victory at UFC 317 in Las Vegas, Tracy Cortez spoke with the media. Despite securing a win, she expressed dissatisfaction with her performance. A significant portion of her post-fight comments was dedicated to explaining her public message of support for the Mexican community, particularly in light of ongoing ICE raids.

Cortez highlighted her deep connection to her heritage and fanbase, stating that a large number of her supporters are from the Mexican and wider Latin community, groups she feels she represents fundamentally. She felt compelled to speak out on the sensitive issue, believing it would be inappropriate not to address something so important to “mi gente, la raza,” as she referred to her community.

“A lot of my fans are Mexicans,” Cortez said. “It’s the Latin community, it is someone that I represent very much to my core and I think it would be almost coward-like if I didn’t speak on something. I want the support from what I call mi gente, la raza, and I represent the Mexican flag as well as the U.S. flag and I think it’s only right for me to speak on it.”

She acknowledged the difficulty of the topic but affirmed her role in being a voice for her community. Cortez also briefly mentioned the health issues that have potentially limited her appearances and performance inside the octagon.
