“I knew he would be a tough opponent,” Rodriguez stated post-fight. “I aimed for a first-round finish and had a strategy, but he was well-prepared. Respect to Patricio Pitbull for his UFC journey. Let`s bring a title fight to Mexico in September, Guadalajara.”

Rodriguez effectively utilized his reach advantage to strike from distance, while Pitbull, known for his slow starts, struggled to respond effectively in the early rounds.

While Rodriguez maintained offensive pressure, he remained cautious of Pitbull`s knockout power, avoiding overextension.

A powerful head kick from Rodriguez landed on Pitbull, who responded with a smile, inviting Rodriguez to engage. Pitbull secured a late takedown, but the round ended before he could capitalize.

Pitbull landed a strong left hand that momentarily caught Rodriguez`s attention. However, Rodriguez remained composed and continued to utilize diverse kicks, while Pitbull still struggled to close the distance.

In the final round, with Pitbull needing a finish, Rodriguez maintained his kicking strategy, showing no fear. Pitbull`s increased aggression backfired when Rodriguez landed a powerful punch that dropped the former Bellator champion.

Rodriguez followed up with ground strikes, while Pitbull attempted a submission, a near armbar, but Rodriguez escaped.

Rodriguez continued to land strikes until the bell, capping off a dominant performance against a highly regarded opponent.

Rodriguez hopes this victory will position him for a title shot when the UFC comes to Mexico in September, acknowledging the uncertainties given his recent fight record.
