It’s abundantly clear that Georgia holds a deep affection for Merab Dvalishvili.

UFC Bantamweight Champion Merab Dvalishvili experienced an overwhelming hero`s welcome upon his return to his home country this past Wednesday. Following his impressive performance against Sean O’Malley, securing a third-round submission to conclude UFC 316, Dvalishvili was met by thousands of enthusiastic fans at the airport.

Videos widely shared across social media platforms documented the incredible scenes as Dvalishvili was instantly surrounded by supporters the moment he disembarked, marking the beginning of his victory celebration at home.

The fervent reception continued as Dvalishvili boarded a double-decker bus. Fans on motorcycles excitedly sped alongside, all hoping to catch a glimpse of the champion returning home.

This extraordinary display vividly illustrates Dvalishvili’s escalating popularity, fueled by his proud representation of Georgia whenever he steps into the Octagon.

Accompanying Dvalishvili was his head coach, John Wood, who spoke about the fighter`s genuine connection with his fanbase. Wood highlighted how Merab consistently makes time for his fans, even if it means pausing other activities.

“He really is that guy,” Wood commented. “Merab is the nicest, funniest, loving dude. He will sign every autograph, talk to every single person, he loves it. He would go and do every event. He never says no.”

Wood shared anecdotes demonstrating Merab`s dedication to his supporters: “I’ve seen him so many times, it takes us hours to get places when we’re with him because he’ll jump out of the van and just start signing [autographs] for people on the street corner and then a herd comes and he won’t turn anybody down.”

This powerful outpouring of support back in Georgia allows Dvalishvili to fully celebrate his recent victory and the strong bond he shares with his homeland.
