Luana Santos has officially cemented her place in the UFC record books.
In a women`s bantamweight preliminary clash against Tainara Lisboa at UFC Vegas 106, held on Saturday at the UFC APEX, Santos achieved a historic milestone. With just one second remaining in the second round, Santos secured the victory via Americana submission, making her the first woman in UFC history to accomplish this feat by forcing her opponent to tap out.
This bout marked Santos`s return to action, her first fight since suffering a decision loss to Casey O’Neill at UFC 305 in August. Prior to that defeat, the 25-year-old had been perfect in her first three appearances inside the octagon, including impressive stoppage victories over Mariya Agapova and Juliana Miller. Her recent record now stands at 6 wins and 1 loss in her last seven outings.
Tainara Lisboa came into the fight with an undefeated record within the UFC promotion. However, that record is now broken as she suffered her first loss under the UFC banner, simultaneously bringing an end to her overall five-fight winning streak.
