UFC Vegas 107 Main Event Cancelled After Maycee Barber Not Medically Cleared

The main event of UFC Vegas 107 was abruptly cancelled just moments before the fighters were scheduled to make their walk to the octagon. This occurred after Maycee Barber experienced a sudden medical emergency and was not medically cleared to compete.

The announcement of the cancellation came right as Barber was preparing to walk to the cage.

This development is particularly unfortunate for Barber, who has been inactive since March due to health problems that have kept her out of action for over a year. This latest emergency prevents Barber from fighting again, with no immediate timeline indicated for her potential return.

Following the news of the cancellation, Barber`s opponent, Blanchfield, reacted and shared what UFC officials communicated to her moments before the fight was scrapped.

“Hunter [Campbell] came in, he was saying that she was having a seizure and she’s having medical issues and she’s not going to be able to fight,” Blanchfield recounted. “I knew once I saw him, it wasn’t something good because he was being real serious. I feel like I’m in a little disbelief.”

Prior to the scheduled bout, Blanchfield had already voiced concerns regarding Barber`s history of health issues and her ability to make it to the fight night.

After the cancellation on Saturday, Blanchfield stated that she is no longer interested in entertaining the possibility of rebooking a fight with Barber in the future.

“No, my coaches right away were like ‘don’t entertain her, she’s not on your level,`” Blanchfield quoted her coaches. She also described the situation as “Super unprofessional.”
