UFC Winner Jean Silva Jokes About Dana White as Best Man to Afford Wedding Singer

Jean Silva is closer to achieving his personal dream after defeating Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314 and earning a $50,000 performance bonus in Miami. However, his dream isn`t about UFC gold.

Silva, known as “Lord,” had previously mentioned his desire to marry Carolina de Castro in a church, a plan requiring significant funds. After his submission victory on April 12th, Silva elaborated on the high costs of his ideal wedding, stating he is now “very close” to realizing his dream.

“We should be married already, but we really want the Brazilian singer Belo to perform at our wedding,” Silva revealed at the post-fight press conference. “I’m making a plea here: Belo, please lower your fee, brother! It’s too expensive. Otherwise, I’ll have to fight several more times and sign another contract.”

Reports from April 2024 indicate that Belo charges around $120,000 per concert.

“Do you think,” Silva playfully questioned, “if I invite Dana White to be my best man, he’d cover Belo’s fee?”

When UFC CEO Dana White appeared for the post-event media briefing, Jose Youngs from MMA Fighting relayed Silva’s question.

“I need more details on this,” White responded with a smile, “but I’m likely in.”

The Silva versus Mitchell fight was highly anticipated, and Silva delivered an impressive performance, improving his UFC record to 5-0 with five performance bonuses.

“I believe I’m the people’s hero now,” Silva stated. “They needed one, and Jean ‘Lord’ Silva has arrived.”

While recognized for his knockout power, the featherweight fighter secured a victory by submission, using a ninja choke against Mitchell.

“Training was much harder than the fight itself,” Silva commented. “This reflects the excellent work Pablo [Sucupira] and Flavio [Alvaro] have done with us, and we are demonstrating it. We`ve recently seen success with [Mauricio] Ruffy, myself previously, and now again, and Carlos Prates is next. Get used to seeing this, everyone.”
