Veteran Middleweights Booked for UFC 319 Card

Middleweight fighters Michal Oleksiejczuk and Gerald Meerschaert have been confirmed for the UFC 319 event. This bout was announced by Oleksiejczuk`s team, Fighting Nerds, via social media.

UFC 319 is set to take place at the United Center in Chicago on August 16th as a pay-per-view event.

Oleksiejczuk, holding a record of 20 wins, 9 losses, and 1 No Contest, is looking to continue his momentum after breaking a three-fight losing streak. He achieved this with a first-round knockout victory over Sedriques Dumas in April, which was his first fight representing the Sao Paulo team.

The Polish athlete began his UFC career in the light heavyweight division but has compiled a 4-4 record since moving down to the 185-pound middleweight class. All of his victories at middleweight have come by way of first-round knockout. His middleweight finishes include wins against Sam Alvey, Cody Brundage, Chidi Njokuani, and most recently, Dumas.

Meerschaert, with a record of 37 wins and 19 losses, aims to bounce back from consecutive defeats against Reinier de Ridder and Brad Tavares. These losses have brought his promotional record within the UFC to 12-11.

The 37-year-old veteran holds the distinction of having the most stoppages in UFC middleweight history, totaling 12 finishes. He boasts a 100 percent finishing rate within the octagon, consisting of 11 submissions and one knockout. Notable fighters Meerschaert has finished include Bryan Barberena, Edmen Shahbazyan, and Bruno Silva.

The main event for UFC 319 features the middleweight championship bout between reigning titleholder Dricus du Plessis and the undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev.
