Ian Machado Garry is generating excitement among fans for his upcoming fight this Saturday.
The promising welterweight fighter will make his first appearance in the octagon in 2025, headlining UFC Kansas City against Carlos Prates. This fight marks Garry`s return since his last bout in December at UFC 310, where he suffered a decision loss against Shavkat Rakhmonov in a closely contested fight.
Garry accepted the fight against Prates on short notice as a replacement for the originally planned main event between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree, which was postponed. Prates himself was moved from UFC 314 after his initial opponent, Geoff Neal, was injured. Garry`s promo video emphasizes his willingness to take on challenging matchups.
The defeat by Rakhmonov was Garry`s first professional loss, ending his impressive 15-fight winning streak, which included eight victories in the UFC. During his successful run in the promotion, he has secured wins against notable opponents such as Geoff Neal, Daniel Rodriguez, Neil Magny, and Michael Page.
Prates is set for his second consecutive main event after a first-round knockout victory over Neil Magny in November at UFC Vegas 100. Notably, Prates, who emerged from the Contender Series, has finished all four of his UFC opponents by knockout.
