Former world number three Nadezhda Petrova has shared her perspective on Daniil Medvedev`s performance. The Russian tennis player recently finished as the runner-up in the ATP 500 tournament final in Halle, losing to Kazakhstan`s Alexander Bublik with a score of 3/6, 6/7(4).
Petrova commented on Medvedev`s approach: “In all of Medvedev`s defeats, even considering the first round loss at Roland Garros, Daniil continues to fight until the very last point. He often falls short by just one or two key rallies, which is where the match slips away from his opponent. His current mindset is clearly visible. He handled a challenging semifinal match against Zverev with composure; Medvedev went out there without showing frustration or engaging in disputes with his team and got the job done.”
Notably, prior to this recent match, Medvedev held a perfect six-win record against Bublik in their previous head-to-head encounters.
Following the tournament, Daniil is projected to drop to ninth place in the updated ATP rankings.
