Wyatt Hendrickson defied expectations by defeating Gable Steveson in a dramatic upset victory Saturday night.
Hendrickson secured a 5-4 win with a last-minute takedown against Olympic champion Steveson in the NCAA Division I wrestling championships 285-pound final.
Hendrickson stated, “Today, I am number one and the gold medalist. I knew I could do it. Like David and Goliath, I overcame the odds.”
Steveson`s college wrestling career is finished, and he might consider MMA in the future, but he is also aiming for the 2028 Olympics.
