Yair Rodriguez and Patricio Pitbull are set to clash in a featherweight main card fight at UFC 314, taking place Saturday at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
Rodriguez, with a record of 14 wins, 5 losses, and 1 no contest, is ranked #8 in the MMA Fighting Global featherweight rankings. Pitbull (36-7) is close behind at #9.
After a 15-year career with Bellator, this fight marks Pitbull`s debut in the UFC.
Former interim featherweight champion Rodriguez aims to halt Pitbull`s potential UFC title run right from the start. “El Pantera” is looking for a victory after two consecutive losses, despite facing top-tier opponents recently. He seeks to add Pitbull to his impressive list of wins, including Chan Sung Jung, Josh Emmett, Brian Ortega, Jeremy Stephens, and B.J. Penn.
At 37, Pitbull`s UFC arrival may be belated, but a win against Rodriguez could immediately put him in title contention. During his time in Bellator, Pitbull achieved a record of 24 wins out of 30 fights and won championships in two weight classes, holding the featherweight title three times and the lightweight title after a first-round knockout of Michael Chandler in 2019.
